They are grilled nine times repeatedly. The bamboo salts from Insanga are made by the traditional, manual methods and this is where all the devotion goes. Here, they insist on using sun-dried salt from the Yellow Sea, keep the salt in the storage for three years to remove water and then make fire from pine tree’s firewood to grill the bamboo salts. During this process, the active ingredients from the pine trees and the iron from the kilns permeate into the salts. After that, the salts are placed inside the bamboo, chopped, grilled in firewood, crushed and grilled again. At the ninth time, the temperature is increased to 1,600 Celsius degree until the bamboo salts and the bamboos both become liquid. This is called high-temperature fusion work. After a cool down, the gemstone of bamboo salts are crushed and processed for 25 days. Insan bamboo salts taste like a baked egg dipped into salt. It is said to be great for anti-aging, fighting fatigue, helping digestion, cleansing blood as well as treating stomach disorder and infection.
