Spoons and chopsticks made with bronze and stainless steel. Utensils designed in rhombus shape are four-sided to minimize discomfort when picking up food.

Makgeolli cups made with traditional bronze-casting techniques. The shape is inspired by the gourd dipper, which was left in liquor storage jars and used to scoop the liquor out.

Gobae series with black soil

Tableware inspired by the lids and raised bases of Gaya pottery. Made by shaping black clay on a traditional pottery wheel. Surfaces have a rough, irregular appearance due to the use of the gwiyal technique, in which glaze is applied to the clay surface with a wide, flat brush made from horse or pig hairs.

A lidded bowl inspired by the shape and structure of the Joseon Dynasty’s wonban (one-person table with round tabletop). Items are coated in matte glaze (black/celadon green) to bring attention to the object’s exquisite outline.

Trays and tables inspired by the subjects (e.g. mountains, sky, clouds, rocks) and colors of traditional landscape paintings. Woven pattern carved into hardwood offers a modern interpretation of the hojokban (one-person wooden table).

Mother Nature (Ottcill-coated wooden long cup & tumbler)

Ottchil-coated wooden tumblers that expose the wood’s natural grain. Made by carving extensively-dried wood with the grain and then coating it in several layers of ottchil extracted in Wonju. Some items use the “steps” of the colored ottchil to depict the energy of crashing waves.

SUBOK Pot / Dish tower

Ottchil tableware set. Surfaces were crafted using the traditional wood powder method to prevent slipping, while the insides have been polished, making each item both practical and visually attractive.
